2023 Concours d'Elegance

They say it’s difficult to herd cats, but JAGM members managed to shepherd more than thirty Jaguars into Canterbury Village for our annual Concours on Sunday, September 3rd! Mother Nature smiled and sent a beautiful sunny day and it was a perfect time to enjoy great friends, great cars, and maybe even some ice cream.

The event began with the Saturday evening Hospitality Gathering at the Springhill Suites Hotel. This pre-event is always a nice, relaxing opportunity to reconnect and catch up with old friends (and meet new friends).

Sunday morning began with beautiful sunny weather as the impeccably prepared Jaguars made their way into Canterbury Village. As always, there were plenty of members working to greet, register, and park the cars among the lanes, shops, and trees in the Village. The sunshine and pleasant temperatures stayed all day. The Jaguars on the field included entries from Ohio, Ontario, Arizona, and Wisconsin along with a great group from JAGM. The judging team, headed by Dave Wathen, worked through the Championship and Driven Class cars smoothly for all the scores. Thanks, as always, to the judges, score runners, and tabulators!

As the show concluded, we all moved to Johnny Black’s Public House in Lake Orion for the awards presentations and dinner. We enjoyed great service and a delicious buffet meal. In addition to all the class winners’ trophies, the Murphy’s Law Trophy was awarded – this year’s winner was Howard Richards. He was able to pick up a trophy without actually having his car in the show. It’s a long story that might appear in a future Indicator; if your hood release cable becomes disconnected from the latch, it’s what might be called a sticky wicket! So, our very enjoyable 55th Concours is in the books – time to start planning for the 56th!
